Put the Page Title Before the Site Title

Suppose you have a site called 'Frosty's Recipies', and there are a lot of separate pages on that site, each with a different title. For example:

Frosty's Recipies - oatmeal raisin cookies
Frosty's Recipies - BBQ chicken
Frosty's Recipies - fresh baked bread

These titles can be made more relevant in search engines by rearranging them like so:

oatmeal raisin cookies - Frosty's Recipies
BBQ chicken - Frosty's Recipies
fresh baked bread - Frosty's Recipies

I have also found that page titles like these lead to more relevant ads when showing Adsense on a page.

Use Keywords in The Names of Your Products and Posts

When you release a new product, website, page or post, you generally choose a title for it. Here's something to consider: most other sites will use the same title that you did when linking to your site. If you want your site or page to show up in search results for particular keywords, name the page with those keywords (and as little else as possible). Any time another page makes a link to your page using the title you crafted, it will count as a vote for your site with respect to those keywords.

Make a Video or Screencast About Your Page

A nice way to get a couple of thousand visitors to a page is to make video about it, then upload it to YouTube, Google Video, Revver, DailyMotion, etc.

Screencasts are particularly easy to make if you have a Mac. SnapzProX or iShowU can record the video from your screen.

Mass-Submit to Social Bookmarking Sites

One way to build links to your page is to submit it to social news and bookmarking sites. There are now so many such sites that it is impossible to submit to them all. However, you can submit to a lot of them at once fairly quickly by using SocialPoster. Enter the info once, and it makes links for you to submit to bunch of sites automatically.

The sites that I regularly submit to using social poster are:
- Digg
- Reddit
- StumbleUpon
- Netscape
- Delicious
- Technorati
- Furl
- Diigo
- Bluedot.us
- Netvouz
- Ma.gnolia
- Sk-rt
- Kick.ie
- Thoof

I do not submit to the other sites that SocialPoster supports.

Use a Blog Auto-Pinger

One simple thing that you can do to get more visitors to your blog is to submit it to an automatic ping service. The best ones that I have found are listed below:

Pingoat - when it is working, this site sends your info to a very large number of directories

Ping-o-Matic - works reliably, but doesn't submit to that many directories.

PingMyBlog - works well and submits to a large number of directories, although many of them respond "Try Again Later", which seems to be an error.

You can promote just about any website even if it is not a blog by making a blog post about it, then using these sites to spread the message.
